Hello heatwave once again………..after no sleep overnight we begin our adventure to Coober Pedy…….. after a dip in the pool, some sangas and a beer we decide its off to bed, only one problem we have a sauna as home for the next week, not that this should come as a shock to us as were we live there has no air-conditioning anyway……..by midnight and not nodding of to sleep I lose my cool and Lauralea is wondering what the hell I’m up to, have pulled out one of the deckchairs and decided to try and sleep out there, we opened up the side door but that didn’t seem to make any difference……. About an hour later we decide fuck it we will just open the boot as well so once we had some decent airflow the campervan actually cools down………then I am up at 5:30, by six I decide there is no point in trying to get more sleep so we are up and at em. No brekkie though as me being the total genius that I am forgot to put my soy milk in the fridge, no coco pops for me =(…………so we are off and running………….umm actually driving……..we were on the road by 7am…

12 kms out of Pt Augusta its time to pull over again and a short call to the Campervan mob as light has come on and we have no user guide to work it out for ourselves, not to panic it was just the water light, all fixed up……then off we start again…….its becoming a recurrent theme on this road trip that’s for sure………by 10:30 we hit Glendambo……. And kudos to them they actually sell a vegetarian burger and it was bloody awesome, well done girls…..another fuel and water top up and we are off again.

Between Pt Augusta and Coober Pedy we came across 20 dead roos littering the side of the road, two half eaten cows and 2 lots of road works, always fun in the sun =)

After a few photos, we stopped off at a couple of “lookouts along the way. One being I don’t know what and the other Lake hart…with no water but lots of salt…some fellow campervanners were walking on the salt but I decided it would be too hot to join them…we make it in to Coober Pedy take a picture at the “Truck” sign then first stop is the Old Timers Mine to see our mate Trevor…….unfortunately he was in the big smoke at a travel thing so we were left in the hands of the magnificent Carol, who went through some stuff about the mine with us……… if you are travelling through the guts of Oz or just planning a trip to the outback then this is a must see and do, its fun while being educational and have to say snaps for making people wear helmets otherwise I would have ended up with concussion, Lauralea also, she hit her head about 20times, and a nice touch to be able to wear helmets that have names, mine was Trev the Tunneler and Loz snared Mary Hallidays, a few photos with the locals later and we are off in search of accommodation, luckily we have come across an underground backpackers/motel called Radeka’s the accommodation is fantastic deep underground where it is nice and cool so we can actually get a great sleep before we head off to Uluru as that is going to be a massive drive so the more sleep the better, and also for the geeks and facebook addicts there is also wireless internet connection……aahhhh home sweet home hey………

Well its time for a cold beer a shower and then bed, big day tomorrow……catch ya then =)

PS Photo's to come xoxo
